History

1997 On behalf of the Bavarian Ministry for National Development and Environment in cooperation with the "Kuratorium Hochfranken" and the "Euregio Egrensis" boards the research centre for locality analysis, regional politics and administration practice of the University of Bayreuth e.V. (Prof. Dr. Drs. h. c. J. Maier) established a realizability study of a model project:

"Hochfranken as area for company and existence foundations"

The target of this study was to develop the whole Hochfranken region into a location offering optimum possibilities for company foundations and investments.

Among others, one project of this study was the establishment of an "East-West Competence Centre"
1998 The town of Marktredwitz applies for becoming seat of this centre with the Bavarian States Ministry for Economy, Transport and Technology.

Establishment of a steering committee for the realization of the idea upon selection of Marktredwitz as its location.
1998/1999 The town of Marktredwitz applies for a subsidy out of the advancement program Interreg II for the erection of an East-West Competence Centre with the Bavarian States Ministry for Economy, Transport and Technology.
1999 Allowance of the advancement means of the EC Interreg II program.

Start of the construction measures.

In parallel Prof. Dr. Drs. h. c. J. Maier established an exploration study on the subject "market potential and acquisition analysis" for the East-West Competence Centre on behalf of the "Forum Zukunft Oberfranken e.V."
2000 The society for economic advancement of Marktredwitz pursues the project.

Application for subsidy out of funds of the regional "High-Tech-Offensive Zukunft Bayern" for the measure "high-tech equipment and acquisition/launch of the East-West Competence Centre" with the government of Upper Franconia.

Application for subsidy out of the EC-advancement program Interreg III - supplement to the application for subsidy out of means of the regional future Bavarian high-tech offensive.
2001 Inauguration of the East-West Competence Centre
2001/2002 Allowance of the subsidies applied for out of means of the "Regional High-Tech-Offensive Zukunft Bayern" and the EC-advancement program "Interreg III".
2002 Signature of the cooperation agreement between the town of Marktredwitz and the University of Pilsen.

Buildings / Location

Central Solidium: Representative three-flored building with entrance hall and large special areas.
Office area: Functional rows of flexible office surfaces in a two-flored linear solidium.


Varying room heights on the ground and first floor allow variable sectioning from the smallest office box to the largest office surface to come up with the multiple requirements of the potential users.
